Caleb Fowler is an insurance/reinsurance arbitration panelist and mediator with over 40 years of experience in the insurance / reinsurance industry. He has participated in more than 200 arbitrations involving insurance and reinsurance disputes between policyholders and insurers, insurers and reinsurers, reinsurers and retrocessionaires, managing agents/underwriters and insurers, pools and syndicates (served as umpire in about 25% of these arbitrations).

Mr. Fowler has been President of both insurers and reinsurers. He has also served as a senior corporate officer in the following areas: legal, financial, strategic planning, claims, marketing/field operations, and international reinsurance. Types of Arbitrations Undertaken:

Served on panels deciding a broad range of disputes; involvement tends to be on complex matters with considerable amounts and significant issues in dispute
Served as panelist in several arbitrations involving amounts in excess of one billion dollars, others involving hundreds of millions, also ones of small sums involving issues of importance to the parties
Have also been asked to serve on Panels where the participants have not been experienced in the insurance/reinsurance arbitration process
Several matters have required more than 50 hearing days, one totaled over 90

All arbitrations are obviously not equal in terms of experienced gained. Some are relatively uneventful with few issues dealt with prior to the hearing, and with brief hearings. Others are more complex with numerous issues requiring resolution before the hearing is possible, and then numerous hearing days. Mr. Fowler logs months of hearing days each year, with extensive motion practice in the interim.
